Good morning, Redwood City!

Road rage

The storms may be over (for now), but the impacts of several weeks of heavy rain and wind are still being felt throughout the Bay Area. A major source of new frustration: damaged roads.

Yesterday, witnesses reported seeing *dozens* of cars lined up along northbound 101 after an “unusually large pothole” (as one California Highway Patrol officer called it) formed, causing tires to pop and traffic to pile up. But with other potholes forming near the Marsh and Whipple exits, our highway is starting to look a little bit like Swiss cheese.

The problem? Weeks of rain and heavy traffic have created a “perfect storm,” according to CHP. The solution? Avoid unnecessary travel, at least until Caltrans can catch up on this massive game of whack-a-pothole.

Have you been affected by recent potholes or other road damage? Let us know—and be safe out there!
