The Sequoia Awards has officially opened its 2023 scholarship program for applications.

Targeting high school seniors in Redwood City, the awards are given in recognition of students who have actively volunteered and positively impacted their community.

Last year, the organization distributed $200,000 to 29 students based on their contributions to the Redwood City community through volunteerism.

The Sequoia Awards has also commenced the nomination process for the Outstanding Individual and Outstanding Business of the year categories. These awards aim to acknowledge individuals and businesses that have consistently served and supported the community.

In 2023, George Schoenstein was recognized as the Outstanding Individual for his continuous involvement in community initiatives, including the PAL Music, Arts, and Bar-B-Q Festival, as well as his support for various non-profit organizations. On the other hand, La Biscotteria, owned by Augustine & Angela Bounocore, was acknowledged as the Outstanding Business. Their dedication to assisting community members, especially those with food, transportation, and other vital needs, has been commendable.

Interested parties are encouraged to apply or nominate deserving individuals or businesses for these recognitions. The deadline for both scholarship applications and award nominations is set for October 31, 2023.
