Redwood City police are looking for a man they say carjacked someone's car, threw the driver out of the vehicle, and later lit the car on fire.

Police received a call around 7:11 p.m. Friday that someone's took the victim's car by force. Officers said the suspect struck the driver in the back of the head and removed them from the vehicle by force, then drove off in the victim's vehicle.

Police said it happened in front of an apartment building at the 1400 block of Marshall Street. Around 8:06 p.m., the stolen green Toyota Camry was located on fire near Bay Road and Charter Street in Redwood City.

The suspect is described as a heavyset African American man about six feet tall, wearing a mask and an orange construction jacket or vest. He was last seen running north on Bay Road. Police said the man may have suffered burns or other injuries.
