Three men were arrested after an attempted car theft Friday morning, Redwood City police said.
Officers responded to the 3500 block of Page Street about 11:30 a.m. when it was reported that two men had just broken into a vehicle before fleeing in a silver Toyota Prius, police said.
A 19-year-old from Redwood City, a 19-year-old from Oakland, and a 22-year-old from Oakland were taken into custody. The men were in the area of Spring Street and 10th Avenue, police said Saturday.
Investigators determined that the men were using an electronic device that is used by car thieves to reprogram car keys, police said.
The three were accused of attempted auto theft, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools.
