Good Morning,
What it takes to make a district map
It all began when Redwood City got a letter that said the city was violating the California Voting Rights Act by diluting the voting power of the Latinx and Asian citizen voting age populations. The city was threatened with a lawsuit. Moving quickly, the city shifted from an at-large election system to a district-based one. That was just three years ago. Today, we have a new district map just in time for November. More here.
Scott Peterson is back in the news…
In a Redwood City courtroom, Peterson's attorneys are still presenting evidence on one of the original jurors from Peterson's 2004 conviction, stating she lied to the court during her pre-trial hearing. The hearings began in February and are expected to end today.
Have a happy weekend,
Michelle
