Good morning, Redwood City!
COVID strikes again
As cases rise countywide, at least 35 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the San Mateo County Elections Office, just days before Election Day. Assistant Assessor Jim Irizarry assured the Pulse that the election will still happen and the public won’t feel any impact. But he admitted that his team will have to put in some extra work to get there.
Flags up
Tomorrow morning, community leaders will gather to raise the Juneteenth flag, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The event will kick off a month honoring the legacy of Black Americans and the continued barriers to equity and inclusion.
"Juneteenth is a time for all of us to reflect upon and to recognize our country's tragic legacy of slavery and racism," said Board President Don Horsley. "It's also a time for us to come together as a community to take action to progress the causes of equality and justice."
Stop by the courtyard at 400 County Center tomorrow at 9 a.m. to catch the event. I’ll be there!
That’s all for now, folks. Enjoy your Thursday.
