Good morning,
It was a long night for many. But for those of us who were awaiting the election results live on the county website, it felt like years.
Sheriff
Leah and I spent the night at various candidates' watch parties. I, personally, spent the majority of my night with a group of Sheriff Carlos Bolanos' supporters. Leah spent her night with Christina Corpus and some District 15 candidates.
To sum it up: Corpus leads over incumbent Sheriff Carlos Bolanos. As of late Tuesday night, Corpus led by roughly 55% of the vote. If the results hold, San Mateo County may soon see its first female –and first Latina–sheriff.
District 15
California Assembly Speaker Kevin Mullin and San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa appear to be headed for a runoff election on the Nov. 8 ballot. That's if the results hold. Republican candidate Gus Mattammal and Democrat Emily Beach are trailing with 17.9 and 13.5 percent, respectively.
More news is incoming. We have tons of election coverage, so keep following along.
Have a great day!
Michelle
