Good morning, Redwood City!

City business

Last night’s city council meeting was a doozy. During the 6-hour meeting, council deliberated on and ultimately approved several major initiatives including the city’s Walk Bike Thrive Plan, a program for future parklets and the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

However, housing injustice was the star of the show. For an hour and a half, dozens of members of the community spoke, sharing harrowing stories of harassment, rising rents, displacement and neglect. Endorsing the city’s proposed Anti-Displacement Strategy, speakers demanded more in the way of tenant protections and highlighted the urgency of the need.

We've got more on this to come.

Going green

On Saturday, dozens of residents gathered near Redwood Creek to learn more about a one-mile waterfront bike and pedestrian path. Also known as the Redwood Creek Loop, the proposed trail will be just one leg of a three-part network of urban parks that hopes to expand green space and connect the downtown to the Bay.

Where will the rest of the parks go? What amenities will they provide? Can residents offer feedback? Answers to all your questions here.

More stories coming your way—stay tuned.

And happy Tuesday!

Leah
