Good morning Redwood City, and happy Tuesday! Lots of updates today.

San Carlos has a new police chief—

The city announced last night San Mateo County Sheriff's Capt. Mark Myers has been appointed to fill the role. Myers has served as acting chief since since Kristina Bell was chosen to serve as Redwood City's police chief in May. Before serving in the Sheriff’s Office, Myers served as a police officer with the City of San Mateo Police Department for four years.

Redwood City Council last night reviewed its proposed spending budget for next year. A public hearing on, and adoption of the budget is set for June 26. More on last night's meeting is coming soon.

Today, San Mateo County Supervisors will review the County's Housing Element Update for 2023-31. Supervisors are also slated to deliberate and vote on several potential Measure K grants as the County closes out its fiscal cycle.

By the way, we're working on a story about SB 410, which cleared the Senate May 24 by a 32-8 vote. Introduced by Sen. Josh Becker, it aims to address delays by PG&E in hooking up customers to electricity. We're looking into what the bill's passage means for us here in Redwood City.

Did you experience power outages during last winter's storms? What has your experience been like with electric services in Redwood City? We'd like to hear from you. Send us an email here
