For the contest, students from schools throughout Redwood City — between Kindergarten to Grade 5 — were asked to utilize their artistic skills to illustrate important messages related to the subject of water conservation.

Among the schools that participated in this year's contest were Clifford School, Henry Ford School, Hoover School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Redwood Shores School, Roosevelt School, Roy Cloud School, Saint Pius School and Taft School.

Hundreds of creative posters were submitted for the contest. Winners were ultimately selected by a panel of judges.

The City says that the aim of the contest was to inform the next generation of children about the significance of conserving water, as well as to simultaneously inspire students to take action and help in their own respective ways.

"Developing a water wise culture at an early age is vital to the success of managing our water into the future," said the City of Redwood City in a release.
