Good morning Redwood City!
It's Tuesday and I can't stop smiling. After a week literally spent clowning around, Lead Reporter Leah and I are taking a closer look at some tips we've received from the community. And we're thankful. Because as I've said before, we need your support, your comments and your feedback. Some of you have asked us to write about local events, look into some development projects and provide updates on Redwood City Schools. Believe us when I say, we're learning a lot about Redwood City just by listening to you.
Last week, I sat down with Jason Galisatus, executive director of the Redwood City Education Foundation, who gave us a glimpse into how the Redwood City School District is handling the COVID-19 situation. He also spoke about why the 2019 parcel tax failed to pass and why he believes that RCEF should focus all its attention on schools with acute needs rather than every school equally is the right choice. If you missed Thursday night's webinar, you can watch it here.
The webinar is the first in what I hope becomes a regular townhall-style event, where the Pulse team sits down with community leaders to chat about what matters to Redwood City.
In other news…
The city council voted unanimously Monday to approve a micromobility plan for the city of Redwood City. Here's what that means to you. In the coming months, Redwood City will work with third-party operators to install e-bikes and e-scooters for public use around the city. Here's an explainer. And the Redwood City Library and City Hall are now open.
Please send your story ideas to me at editor@rwcpulse.com.
