Good morning, Redwood City!

It's football season. And that means it's time for the 'Battle for Redwood City,' a highly anticipated showdown between the Woodside Wildcats and the Sequoia Ravens.

"We can pretend it's just another game,'' Woodside coach Justin Andrews said. "But it isn't, and that makes it fun. The kids know each other real well. They talk trash directly and indirectly all year long.''

Fans can catch the game Friday at 7 p.m. at Sequoia's Terremere Field.

Speaking of schools, state public health officials said Wednesday that indoor mask requirements in schools are likely to remain in place into 2022, though student vaccinations could change that.

Yes, you heard that right—student vaccinations!

Earlier this week the FDA issued an emergency authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. This means that young kids could start receiving the vaccine quite soon. In this week's newsletter, Redwood City School District Superintendent John Baker wrote that RCSD already started planning how they will help facilitate COVID-19 vaccine access for their students. He added that the district is one of a few in the county "whose application was granted by San Mateo County Health to host vaccination clinics." More on that soon.

Finally, you may have heard of the historic land swap between the city and the county that was approved last month. We did a deep-dive into the history of this swap, what exactly was exchanged, and how it shapes the future of the city. You can read that here.

That's all for now. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Ideas? We're all ears.

Signing off,

Leah
