Good morning, Redwood City!

Last night the city council paid tribute to outgoing mayor, Diane Howard, who will remain on council though her term as mayor is ending. In a unanimous vote, the council voted to install Giselle Hale to the seat for the next two years.

Hale got to work immediately. In her first public statement as mayor, she announced a new San Mateo County Mental Health Initiative, which she described as “a countywide effort to raise awareness of mental health needs and increase access to mental health services.” More on that here.

Did you catch any of the holiday festivities this weekend? I stopped by to watch the big Hometown Holidays parade, and it did not disappoint. The crowds were in the thousands as gymnasts, folklórico dancers, live animals and the infamous SamTrans holiday bus made their way down Broadway.

Whether you stayed home or just want to relive the magic, check out our story and  photos from the event here.

Stay tuned for more. Until then, happy Tuesday!

Signing off,

Leah
