Good morning, Redwood City!
Yesterday the Bay Cities Football Club was admitted into the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA).
In other words…San Mateo County now has its first professional sports team—and it's right here in Redwood City. As President Anders Perez told the Pulse in a video call, the club chose Redwood City because the city is home to an abundance of great soccer players, and it plans to provide those players an opportunity to "fulfill their dream, both in boys and girls."
The men's and women's teams kick off their inaugural season in March 2022. Read more about that here.
As we head into the weekend, don't forget to bring in that lawn furniture and tie down any loose holidays decorations. According the National Weather Service, widespread rain and gusty winds are coming to the Bay Area, with the heaviest rainfall expected to start Sunday afternoon and last into early Monday. More on that coming soon.
Stay safe, stay dry, and enjoy your weekend.
Signing off,
Leah
