Good morning, Redwood City!

A few local updates for you this morning…

If you’d like the chance to get to know us, here at the Pulse, a little better, it’s not too late to sign up for today’s “Meet the Editors” event. The webinar, which you can sign up for here, will start at 12:30. Stop by (virtually) to ask us your questions and share feedback on what topics or issues you'd like covered. Hablamos español!

Yesterday, Redwood City announced their new Community Wellness and Crisis Response Team Mental Health Clinician, Patricia Baker. As part of the county’s new pilot program (which you can read more about here), Baker will join police officers responding to crisis calls in an effort to de-escalate and help those experiencing a mental health emergency.

City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz said this is part of a larger effort to address concerns from residents about how best to manage these situations.

“As we focus on reimagining public safety services, this is a first step to improve support for a person undergoing a crisis,” she said in a statement. More on that soon.

Lastly, we've got a new story in our crime files. If you want to read about black magic, an eerie videotape and a house fire that landed Redwood City on national TV…well, you've come to the right place.

Hope to see you at 12:30. Until then, happy Thursday!

Signing off,

Leah
