Good morning, Redwood City!

Last week the Redwood City School Board wrapped up the year with a few final items.

The five elected trustees officially accepted their new roles at Wednesday's meeting, with María Díaz-Slocum and Cecilia Márquez taking the helm as president and vice president, respectively.

The board, which acts as the district’s official governing body, also decided to move forward with a new map of the trustee areas. Because trustees are elected by voters who live in their area, revisions are meant to ensure that no trustee area has too many, or too few, residents. You can read more about that here.

Finally, today’s pick from our crime files: A kidnapping that went wildly wrong when the captives escaped. Our blogger writes about the once-infamous hostage situation here.

Take care driving those slick roads today. And happy Christmas Eve eve!

Signing off,

Leah
