The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office responded on Wednesday to a report of a domestic violence call in North Fair Oaks, according to a news release.

During the incident, which took place at the 2900 block of Crocker Avenue around 11 p.m., a Redwood City man is alleged to have physically assaulted a woman, causing serious injury. Investigators said he then stole a vehicle to flee the area. 

California Highway Patrol officers contacted the suspect during a traffic stop in Monterey County on Thursday. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office took the suspect into custody and booked him at the Maguire Correctional Facility.

He has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, criminal threats, robbery, domestic battery and kidnapping.
