The Redwood City lawyer who last month announced his run for congress to replace Rep. Jackie Speier has withdrawn from the race, according to a news release.
In his statement of resignation, he said, “I would like to thank the voters for considering all the issues we raised in my brief run for office, especially the root causes of the rising housing costs across this state. I would also like to thank my opponents for running clean campaigns, and I wish them the best in their efforts to represent our community.”
Rep. Jackie Speier announced her retirement late last year from the 14th Congressional District.
Watters is based in Redwood City and has over 16 years of experience practicing law in the area.
The primary election is on June 7.
