Good morning, Redwood City!
Tourist town?
It's no secret that the pandemic brought most travel to a grinding halt. But with mask mandates and other restrictions lifting, people are starting to hit the road again. And Redwood City may be able to capitalize off a predicted resurgence of corporate travel with the proposed opening of a new, 112-room hotel right near downtown. Read more about that here.
Toxic waste
Just last week, Redwood City announced that it was joining eight others in San Mateo County to file a lawsuit against chemical company Monsanto for knowingly contaminating the county with toxic PCBs. Redwood City Harbor was identified as a PCB hotspot in 2008, and the city has long been working to remove the dangerous chemicals from the environment. Quick update here—more on that to come soon.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
Cheers,
Leah
