Banning books
Yesterday, I read a story about a Florida man that was asking school districts in his state to ban the Bible because the Good Book wasn't age appropriate. And while that may not have been the whole point of why folks wanted to ban books to begin with, some in Redwood City want to get ahead of the whole banning books thing. Redwood City Library is taking a stand against censorship and the act of banning books altogether. As Library Director Derek Wolfgram wrote in his most recent newsletter, censorship has no place in libraries. Read the recently revised materials selection and maintenance library policy here.
Taube Family Carriage House & Automobile Gallery
If you see a Victorian-era Brewster Carriage, a Ford Model T and an all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E outside the museum today, then you'll know that's the location of the new site for the 15,000-sq-ft building that is going to house those cars in the near future. There will be a tiny celebration today to mark the occasion. Plans to build the Taube Family Carriage House have been in the works for years. It was one of the first things I learned about when I got here.
Sheriff Candidate Forum
Sheriff Carlos Bolanos and Christina Corpus, Captain and Chief of Police Services for the City of Millbrae are going head to head in a candidate forum this evening. The event will take place in the Woman's Club at 149 Clinton St. in Redwood City and call also be viewed online here.
