Hey Redwood City,

Code Red

San Mateo County announced it has moved from medium/yellow to high/red in the COVID-19 community level category, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. According to the county, the need to increase the level category is partly due to an increase in hospitalizations and a high demand for health care resources in our county. It recommends that people continue to wear masks indoors, get vaccinated if they haven't and if they are symptomatic, stay home and get tested.

Equipped for Success

The Redwood City Education Foundation is raising money for supplies and resources for students who attend Hoover, Garfield and Taft. With a target of raising $650,000 and a couple of weeks left until the deadline, the group is still just shy of its goal. I sat down with RCEF's new executive director, Sara Alexander, this week to discuss this campaign and other initiatives. More on this later.

The Pulse seeks interns

Are you a high school or college student looking to get into the field of journalism? Then this may be for you. Interns will work approximately 20 hours per week for 13 weeks and must be responsible, reliable, independent, have good writing skills and be able to write stories on deadline. Interested applicants should email me a resume. Spanish language skills are strongly preferred.

Have a great day!

Michelle
