Good morning! Happy Monday!
City Council
Additional candidates have entered the races for city council districts 2 and 6, including SMC LGBTQ Commissioner Chris Sturken and Jerome Madigan, a Housing and Human Concerns Committee member. Sturken joins Margaret Becker in the fight for district 2, while Madigan will battle it out with veteran council member Diane Howard in district 6. We have yet to see a challenger file nomination papers in district 5 against Kaia Eakin.
District 4
Meanwhile, the city is searching for a qualified individual to replace Michael Smith, who stepped down as council member late last month to care for a family member. The application period is open, and those interested will represent district 4. For more information, go here.
