Good morning, Redwood City!
Una celebración cultural
This past Sunday, I joined hundreds of North Fair Oaks and Redwood City residents in the scorching sun to mingle, sip horchata and watch a rainbow of traditional Latin American dances. After a two-year hiatus, the North Fair Oaks Community Festival was back, offering residents a place to gather, celebrate and reconnect with their community.
Smaller than years past, but no less mighty, the festival brought faces young and old, veteran and new, for an all-day party.
“It’s my first time coming to a festival like this here,” said Sandra Ortiz, who'd recently moved from Jalisco, Mexico. “I feel very much like it’s part of my culture.”
Hundreds of miles, thousands of dollars
You're never too old to ride 500 miles to support a good cause. At least that's the spirit of Harvey Bondar, a 69-year-old Emerald Hills resident who is just weeks out from the longest bike ride of his life.
Read about his training regime, his favorite routes and his motivation to keep going, here.
Happy Thursday!
