Good morning, Redwood City!

Batmobile mania

If you haven’t already heard about the saga of the Batmobile, you’re in for a wild ride. In short: An Atherton realtor is accusing an Indiana businessman of attempting to defraud him by not delivering on the $210,000 Batmobile replica that he ordered.

Earlier this year, at the request of the realtor, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s and District Attorney’s offices got involved, ultimately leading to a July raid of the Batmobile-maker’s garage in Indiana. ABC7 broke the story late last month, and since then many have called out our local prosecutors and law enforcement for doing a wealthy man’s bidding—at taxpayer’s expense.

It seems the Board of Supervisors share these concerns because on Tuesday they sent a letter to the State Attorney General asking him to conduct an independent investigation. Much more to come on that, no doubt…

Crime time

This week, our true crime blogger brings us the story of a minor quarrel that ended in a murder. If that didn’t grab you, perhaps this will: It was, apparently, "an argument over dirty dishes." Relatable—if a bit over-dramatic. Read the full story here.

Happy Thursday!

Leah
