Good morning, Redwood City!

GuateMaya art

The works of Mayan artist Lorenzo Cruz Sunu are on display now at the Downtown Library through Saturday, Oct. 22. Cruz was born in the Mayan village of San Pedro La Laguna. In this tiny Guatemalan town, the people speak Tz'utujil and Spanish is often their second language. The art exhibit will showcase some of Cruz's colorful works depicting the "espaldas" (backs) of Guatemalan women, each wearing traditional clothing called "hupiles." You can see more of his art here. And here. Many of his works are for sale. For more information, visit the city website

Halloween Fun

Halloween is just around the corner. The city's third annual Halloween decorating contest is here. If you're feeling competitive, register by Friday, Oct. 21. And once you've decorated your home, send us your photos with a caption and credit, and we'll post them to our daily newsletter!

Voting has begun

By now, you should have received your mail-in ballots. We want to make sure you are prepared. Let us know what questions you have. As Leah mentioned on Friday, we now have an Election Guide portal. We plan to update it, so keep checking back.

More news to come.
