Good morning, Redwood City!
Did you feel that?
I don’t know about you, but yesterday’s earthquake was one of the biggest I’ve felt in years. I was in the office at the time, and watched my computer monitor wobble for a matter of seconds before realizing what was going on. Where were you? What did you experience?
Yesterday’s quake originated along the Calaveras Fault, just miles from San Jose. Fun fact: The last major one along that fault was almost exactly 15 years ago, when a magnitude 5.6 quake struck on Oct. 30, 2007.
Many Californians received advanced notification seconds before the quake happened via a phone app called MyShake. As we all know, a few seconds can make a difference. You can download the app here.
Reminder: I’ll be at the Kiwanis Farmers Market this Saturday, likely for the last time this year. There will be special, family-friendly Halloween activities, as well as all the usual baked goodies, seasonal produce and bouquets. Stop by from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Our president, Adam Dawes, will be making a special appearance as well. You don’t want to miss it!
Your reporter,
Leah
