Fatal police shooting
It was a busy night for police Tuesday, as officers worked around the clock on El Camino Real near Maple to investigate a crime scene in the aftermath of a shooting that left one man dead. Police Chief Dan Mulholland told reporters, myself included, that the man was known to the police. We have an update on that. Police allege that the man was armed and was a threat to officers and the woman, and the three children in the vehicle. Ultimately, five police officers shot and killed the man. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. In a video posted on social media, at least one officer can be heard shouting, "Put the gun down." (If you haven't seen the video, we have it all over our socials, including TikTok and Instagram.) Later, police said the man used at least one of the children as a shield. A lot of questions still remain. In the coming days and weeks, we'll know more. Chief said he'd release police body-worn camera footage, and we look forward to that day. Questions? Comments?
