Good Afternoon, Redwood City!
It's time to say farewell to Giselle Hale and Diana Reddy, both of who will be stepping down as mayor and vice mayor, respectively, on Monday. It should be a peaceful transition of power, unlike our neighbors in San Mateo, whose city council has been in a deadlock and without a mayor since Tuesday's meeting. What a mess!
Next in the rotation for mayor and vice mayor are Jeff Gee and Lissette Espinoza-Garnica. In a tweet, Hale promised a drama-free event.
Hale, who ended her campaign for Assembly District 21, decided not to run for re-election to city council and said she would step down from politics to focus on her family. Reddy was pushed into district 7 due to redistricting. She will be able to run for re-election in 2024.
