April 20, 1938 – April 22, 2023
Ruth M. Fullmer, RN, NP, died peacefully early on Saturday morning, April 22, 2023, a little more than a day after celebrating her 85th birthday with her loving family.
Born April 20, 1938 in San Francisco, she was the younger of two children of the late Dr. William G. and Ruth H. (Bell) Maison.
Ruth was an alumna of Lincoln High School (“Stinkin’ Lincoln”) in San Francisco. She graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in nursing and later earned a master's degree in business from the College of Notre Dame as well as a nursing practitioners degree from the University of San Francisco.
She served the community as a nurse through a variety of organizations including Good Samaritan Hospital, Menlo School & College, Menlo Park Veterans Administration, San Mateo County (working with youth at a receiving home). Most recently, she worked for more than 12 years as a nurse case manager with Mission Hospice & Home Care.
Ruth always had a strong sense of God’s love. She greatly valued the friendships she developed with members of the Women’s Wednesday Night Bible Study at Menlo Church as well as her home Bible study group. Teaching for these groups was a great privilege to Ruth; she developed her lessons with care and delivered them with flair.
Thursday evening family dinners at her home were among Ruth’s greatest joys, as were caring for her plants, and a good game of online solitaire.
Ruth is survived by Dr. Frederick D. Fullmer, DDS, her husband of 64 years as well as four children, ten grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and eight nieces and nephews.
Ruth is fondly remembered by many and will be missed by all.
All are welcome to gather for a Celebration at Life on Friday, May 19 at 11 a.m. to be held at Menlo Church (950 Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park). Per Ruth’s wishes, please plan to wear pastel colors with little to no black clothing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CityTeam Ministries (2306 Zanker Rd., San Jose, CA 95131; 408-232-5600) or Mission Hospice & Home Care (66 Bovet Road, Suite 100; San Mateo, CA 94402; 650-554-1000).
