Mother's Day is just around the corner and RWC's Almost Mother's Day Festival is the perfect way to celebrate. Head over to Courthouse Square this weekend for live music, fun activities and maker's market with over 100 local vendors. The festival kicks off this Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Let the festivities begin!
This morning, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors officially proclaimed May as Mental Health Month.
In the spirit of teen wellness, the Downtown Redwood City Library will host a teen "paint and snack event" this Saturday. Even though life can get stressful, creativity can help release stress and improve our mental well-being. There will also be a youth-focused mental wellness resource fair for the first hour, with the painting activity beginning at 2pm. Bring your old clothes! Supplies and snacks will be provided.
May is also Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the Redwood Shores Library is offering events to highlight the history, heritage and contributions of Asian Pacific American communities. Join calligraphy instructor Jojo Liu for an introduction to the art of Chinese calligraphy tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. No experience necessary. Participants with be provided with brushes, ink, and paper.

Don't forget to mark your calendar for next Saturday, May 20. Bay Area Bike To Wherever Days is a free, open-to-the-public group bike ride to meet artists, tour various murals and get some exercise and fresh air with friends.
Annual wildfire training is scheduled in Huddart County Park in Woodside from Monday May 8 through Saturday May 13, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Park users and neighbors may see fire trucks and hear equipment. Helicopters from several agencies will fly in the area and practice landing and take-off in the park. The exercises will not involve smoke or fire activity.
