Good morning, Redwood City.
Exciting update! President Joe Biden came through the Peninsula yesterday.
At the Palo Alto Baylands, the president gave remarks. Biden announced his administration is investing more than $2.6 billion to fight climate change and help communities become more climate resilient. Those funds will prioritize helping coastal and Great Lakes communities prepare for flooding and for building the electrical grid.
President Biden was joined by California Gov. Gavin Newsom, U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo, Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg and Eugene Tu, center director of NASA Ames Research Center.
President Biden will spend three days in Silicon Valley. His trip will consist of campaign fundraising events on Monday in Los Gatos and Atherton. He’s also expected to make an announcement on artificial intelligence. Read more here.
And back in Redwood City, council members are set to interview 16 applicants to fill seven seats on the Police Advisory Committee that will expire on May 31, 2025. Two of the 16 applicants currently hold seats on the committee. Three committee members with expired terms are not running for reelection.
We'll have more on tonight's meeting soon. Here's the agenda. If you have any thoughts about the city's police advisory committee that you'd like to share, please send me an email here.
