Good morning, Redwood City.
I spoke with community members who demonstrated outside of City Hall last night, calling for safe and clean living conditions. They say landlord negligence and mistreatment is a problem in Redwood City and presented a draft ordinance they say would help prevent the issue. People held signs with photos of their unhealthy living conditions during the city council meeting, and called on council members to address their concerns during the public comment period of the meeting.

The City told the Redwood City Pulse that an update on its housing initiatives will be shared at a City Council meeting on August 28.
"Over the past three years, Redwood City has made significant progress in addressing our community’s diverse housing needs, which remains a top priority for the City Council. Through the adoption of the Anti-Displacement Strategy, staff have been working diligently with the community on potential housing policies, including the development of an Anti-Harassment Ordinance and limiting renovation related evictions," the City told the Pulse.
We'll have more on this demonstration soon.
Redwood City's Housing and Human Concerns Committee will meet at City Hall tonight at 6 p.m. Read the agenda for that meeting here.
