Good morning, Redwood City
City Council has a lot to discuss on its agenda tonight. The planning commission will come forward with its work plan for the next two years. The work plan includes the development of Redwood City's Inner Harbor.
Council members will also hear an update on the "Vision Zero Program,"
a movement that uses data to prevent all severe traffic injuries and deaths, aiming for safer travel for everyone. It believes that traffic crashes aren't just "accidents," but can be avoided with the right approach.
Last month, following a shooting near Red Morton Park and the Veterans Senior Center, the Redwood City Police Department used two drones to track the suspects down. The drones, which were borrowed from the San Mateo PD, are considered military equipment per a law passed in 2021 by Gov. Gavin Newsom. The police are only allowed to use drones in exigent circumstances and must notify the city within 30 days. Drones aren't the only equipment that police use that are considered military equipment, per the legislation. Read more here.
And finally, as the cooler weather starts to roll in and we switch to wearing our sweaters, I want to thank Dagmar Logie for sending this photo of beautiful summer wildflowers seen here at Edgewood Park.
