Good morning, Redwood City!
Woman's Club celebrates milestone
The Redwood City Woman's Club, established in 1909, recently celebrated its 114th anniversary. Its clubhouse, over a century old, is recognized by the California and National Registers of Historic Places. Originating from the efforts of three influential women, it has played a significant role in local progress, including contributing to the establishment of Sequoia Hospital. With over 160 members, including many local leaders, the Club actively engages in community work, especially highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Plans for its 115th year include enhancing accessibility with a new ADA-compliant ramp. We'll have this story later today.
RCSD workforce housing
The Redwood City School District is exploring a proposal to build affordable housing for its teachers and staff, aiming to improve employee retention and alleviate financial pressures caused by the Bay Area's housing affordability crisis. The board of trustees is in discussions with The Sobrato Organization for a property exchange agreement to develop the district's headquarters at 750 Bradford St. into a housing project. The proposed development by Sobrato includes a 10-story building with 108 units, featuring a mix of studio to three-bedroom apartments and amenities like an outdoor terrace and exercise room. We'll have that story later this week.
