Good morning, Redwood City!
A lawsuit against San Mateo County for restricting physical mail in jail continues. Plaintiffs argue the ban limits inmates' rights to information and communication, impacting activities like education. The county, however, emphasizes the severe health risks posed by fentanyl-laced mail. A resolution was not reached in the recent hearing, with further discussions scheduled for January.
In yesterday's newsletter, I mistakenly wrote that residents who use more than 14 CCFs could be paying higher water rates. In fact, residents who use less than 14 CCFs would pay more. Redwood City Council raised rates by 12% on Monday.
